Leadenhall Building “Cheese Grater” – City of London

2nd tallest building in London standing at 225m

This iconic state of the art contemporary design building required rope access techniques to complete a number of key construction requirements.

BM Rope Access has been employed to provide rope access services on the Leadenhall Building since 2013 and continues to provide a pivotal service. All associated rope access equipment used on site are certified to meet the requirements of the ‘LOLER’ and ‘PPE’ Regulations.

In advance of each element of the project commencing an initial site survey was completed to identify the correct rope access methods, equipment and the appropriate and safe rope access anchor point selection required.

Also, a full Risk Assessment and Method Statement design and submission was completed.

Paint application:

  • Project team: 4 IRATA certified experienced rope access technicians

BM Rope Access played a key role in the design and application of the ‘steel paint application and repair system’ used on the exposed steel work which makes up the entire 52 floor structure of the existing elevator system, from ground to roof. This encompassed 5000 linier meters of steel.
